As a technician you will be responsible to assemble patients’ health information. You will make sure that patients’ initial medical charts are complete, that all forms are completed and properly identified and signed, and that all necessary information is in the computer. You will communicate with physicians, and other health care professionals to clarify diagnoses, medicines prescribed or to obtain additional information on insurance coverage.

This course will teach you how to fill OUT Patient claims on CMS-1500 (using valid ICD-9, CPT and HCPS procedure codes) how to process outpatient, doctor's office claims for submission to insurance agencies and how to audit and review claims for accuracy and compliance. You will also learn how the insurance claim process works and the role of computers in the healthcare claim filing and servicing.
The course is delivered on a single CD in a Power Point format with 4 printed slides per page. The complete course contains more than 20 double sided (81/2x11) slides and many instructional files and materials.
Salary for entry level claim specialist starts at $36,000 per year. Supervisors make more, around $50,000. You can also conduct business from home and make more money once you have the necessary experience.
